Ven. Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche Visits Gyuto Center in Summer 2009

We have invited Ven. Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche to give teachings at the Gyuto Center for two months in June & July. Venerable Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche was born in 1937 in Yara, eastern Tibet. He entered Drepung Loseling Monastery at 16 and received his Geshe Lharampa degree in 1982. In 1993, he became the 119th Abbot of the Gyuto Monastery. In 2003 he was appointed as Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.

Rinpoche is expected to arrive from India in San Jose in late May. The Welcome Party will be on May 31st. Rinpoche will give the 13-Deity Yamantaka/Vajrabhairava Initiation and the 1000-Arm Chenrezig Empowerment, each at the Santa Clara Convention Center. He will also give teachings on 13-Deity Yamantaka practice (based on the commentary by Lhundup Pandita), and on Mahamudra on every Sunday nights and every Thursday nights at Gyuto Center. Everyone is invited and all teachings are free but donation most welcome.

When Lama Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism, was about to pass into parinirvana he told his followers that he would not reincarnate as he passed the responsibility for the Gelugpa lineage on to his heart son. This position became known as the Ganden Tripa and is traditionally held for seven years. The current Ganden Tripa is from Gyuto Tantric Monastery. The next in line, from Gyudme Tantric Monastery, has the title Jangtse Choeje Rinpoche, and the second in line, from Gyuto, has the title Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche.

Tôn Đức Shapa Chọee sẽ đến thuyết giảng và ban lễ quán đảnh tại trung tâm Gyuto vào hè năm nay trong thời gian 2 tháng. Ngài sẽ đến San Jose vào cuối tháng 5 , Và sẽ có một buổi tiệc chào đón ngài tại Trung Tâm Gyuto Vajrayana Center / San Jose, vào ngày 31 tháng 5 năm 2009.

Choeje là một tước hiệu cao quí của Hoàng Mão Phái (Gelug) điều kiện cần có để có tước hiệu này bắt buộc phải là cựu viện trưởng của trường Đại Học Mật Giáo Gyuto hoặc Gyudme.

Tôn đức Sharpa Choeje là viện trưởng thứ 119 của đại học Mật Giáo Gyuto. Pháp hiệu của ngài là Lobsang Tenzin sinh năm 1937 ở Yara, miền Đông Tây Tang. Ngài đã đạt được học vị Tiến Sĩ Tối Cao Geshe Lharampa từ viện đại học Drepung Loseling và đã được Đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma đề cử giữ tước vị Sharpa Choeje . Hiện tại là vị đứng thứ ba của phái Hoàng Mão sau Genden Tripa và Jangtse.

Xin nói thêm đây là một trong những Pháp Môn trong Tối Thượng Du Đà Mật quan trọng nhất của Phật Giáo Mật Tông Tây Tạng , rất ít khi được ban quán đảnh các Pháp Môn này , ngay cà ở Ấn Độ, Tây Tạng hay Napal .

Quán Đảnh Đức Nyung-Ney (Fasting Retreat)

Nyung-Ne is an effective practice for purifying our faults. The practice was revealed by Bhikshuni Phalmo, a practitioner who suffered from leprosy. She performed this practice for 12 years in conjunction with Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) practice and became a great Siddhi, attaining the Celestial Body.
The retreat course involves powerful practices of purification such as periods of fasting, prostrations, and silence. Practitioners will also recite the six syllable Mantra OM MANI PED ME HUNG. This mantra purifies the six seeds of the six realms within oneself and, further more, has the effect of pacifying the suffering of all beings.
The 1000-Arm Chenrezig Practice Text is available for download from our website.
Prerequisite: All participants must have received Chenrezig Empowerment or Initiation. Registration required, please call or send email for further information. We request $60 donation for the retreat.
